Without the help of our incredible volunteer team, SUPability would not be where it is today. Their commitment to our SUPers is admirable, and their assistance is frequently essential in assisting our participants in achieving their SUPing objectives. We also like to think that the amazing work our volunteers do gives them something in return. We have firsthand knowledge of how rewarding it is to see our participants benefiting from our sessions, and it appears that many of our volunteers share this feeling.
Potential volunteer candidates must be at least 16 years old and have the abilities to effectively help others and support our charity. Many of the talents you develop as a volunteer may also be relevant to your career. Volunteers need to be able to work well with others and have a strong work ethic. As the work you are doing is for free, you need to be able to have the skills to stay motivated and focused on your tasks.
Key qualities we seek in volunteers are:
Essential skills of potential candidates:
Desired skills of potential candidates.
STEP 1 - Volunteering skills for cover letter
Please prepare an introduction letter, think about why this specific volunteering opportunity is relevant to you and why you feel best able to commit to this.
STEP 2 - Volunteering skills - interview
Upon successful completion of step 1, you will be contacted and invited to an informal interview held between you and a core team SUPability member. There will usually be two team members holding this meeting. This is an opportunity for you to explain what draws you to volunteering for this charity and gives you a deeper insight into the charity and its objectives.
STEP 3 - Experiential candidate workshop
Upon successful completion of step 1 & 2, you will be invited to participate in an experiential and practical volunteer morning with other candidates. At this session, we will explore your skills and be presented with live examples whereby we will then best determine your suitability to becoming a professional volunteer.
STEP 4 - Becoming a SUPability volunteer
Successful candidates will be those who have completed all the above stages and given the position as a professional SUPability volunteer. The final process before formally commencing with your volunteer role is to complete a one morning induction training.
